Who will speak for the little ones?
In November of 2006, we became aware of a crisis pregnancy center in Ocala, Florida, that is right next to an abortion mill run by the late-term abortionist Dr. Pendergraft. After meeting with the director of the center, we could see her vision for reaching young women in crisis, working together with the sidewalk counselors who are faithful to be outside the abortion mill each day that abortions are being performed. Feeling impressed upon by the Lord to become involved in the fight for innocent lives, we began volunteering as a family each Thursday. We have since set up a client-focused website for the Alpha Center for Women. Our time there on Thursdays is spent in various tasks besides web design including: folding baby clothes, counting and recording incentive points for the Bridges program, yard work, filing, and training to be a lay counselor. Each day that we spend there, we become more and more convinced of the need for Christians to be involved in this very important work. Lives are being saved, and lives are being changed through the work of crisis pregnancy centers.
In the course of designing the website for the Alpha Center, we discovered that only about 1/3 of all pregnancy centers around the country have working websites. It is our hope to help change that. We believe that more young women can be directed to a safe place through proper use of the Internet, as that is the first place many of them will go for information when they suspect that they may be pregnant. Our desire is to offer web services to as many pregnancy centers as possible this year.
