Defending Scott

In June of 2005, soon after Terri died, we read about a young man in Jacksonville whose story sounded eerily similar.  Desperately wanting to do something, anything, to speak out against the culture of death in this state and this country, we contacted Scott's mom and offered to help if we could.  We went to Jacksonville to meet Pamela and Scott at the rehab hospital where Scott was being treated.  It was our desire to take some photos of Scott, in case they could help with the guardianship battle between Pamela and Scott's wife.  The hospital, when they found out what we were doing, essentially placed us on "house arrest" - detained by two security guards in a large waiting room - until they could decide what to do with us.  After almost two hours, Pamela and Scott's doctor convinced them to let us go, and we gratefully headed back to West Palm Beach.  Such was the beginning of our relationship with Pamela and Scott, a relationship that has blessed us beyond measure.  Several months later, we put together a website for Scott, to try to inform people of his story, his battle, and show his abilities and progress.  You can read Scott's story on that website at www.scottsfight.com.
