Writing for the "About Us" page is perhaps the most difficult, as it is tempting to talk at length of all the things WE have seen and done in the past three and a half years since we left 'home' and headed out on our adventure for the Lord. But we are concerned that it would seem that WE have done something unusual, or that we are saying that we have finally found the 'right' way to serve God. We have many friends that are able, as we were not, to serve the Lord without making such radical changes in their lives. They CAN and DO serve Him every day, in many ways, and we appreciate their witness, their example, their encouragement and prayer.
Our story is different because the particular gifting that God gave Dave is in photography. At first glance, that doesn't sound problematic, but we have learned that photography can never be a neutral field of endeavor. Each photo taken either glorifies God in some way, or it doesn't. While others can continue at their work and be faithful witnesses to those around them, we learned that a photographer has to look at each part of his work and honestly evaluate it on the basis of Scripture, which we believe is our infallible guide to all of life. The more we considered the work we were doing, the more we felt His Hand gently pointing out where we were failing. The more convicted we felt, the stronger grew our desire to know what He would have us do, with the gifting that we were now realizing was His from the beginning. The more we pared away the layers of our photography business, the clearer it became that the only option for us would be a complete change of our life. With some trepidation and much prayer, we sold our home, bought an RV, and headed into the mission field. As we have done our best to follow His leading, we have seen that He is always faithful to provide for our every need. We have also learned that His people can be found wherever we go, and that through Him, much is being accomplished for His kingdom in many different ways.
